Hello Reader,
This week, we take a break from interviews with VCs to highlight a non-profit organization close to my heart. As part of Podcasthon’s weeklong initiative, we dedicated this episode to Achieve Kids, a non-public school serving children with special needs.
My connection to special needs education began during graduate school when I was a tutor to understand students with learning disabilities. While the job helped pay for my living expenses, it also gave me a profound window into the United States, which has become home. Since 2010, I have served on the board of Achieve Kids. While I contributed to the organization, I gained even more in return by learning about self-advocacy, independence, and the resilience of these incredible students.
At the end of the day, the wealth and returns generated through venture capital should serve a greater purpose by supporting organizations that uplift our communities. If we don’t, who will?
This week, I sit down with Stephen Crook, Executive Director at Achieve Kids, to discuss his journey and ambitious plans for the school. Don’t miss this special episode.

In episode #33, Geoff Ralston, former president of Y Combinator, shared his deep commitment to education, having founded Imagine K12, the first EdTech accelerator, and backed transformative startups like ClassDojo and Remind. He emphasized that investing in education is an obligation, not just an opportunity, as schools struggle to keep pace with the needs of 21st-century learners.
Geoff advocates for long-term educational reform—whether through technology-driven solutions or hands-on, specialized support—to create greater opportunities for students across all backgrounds.
